Heating and Year-Round Use

The Whiteface adds more than 100 square feet over the 16' model while staying easy to heat. With the insulation kit, a small to mid-size wood stove keeps the space comfortable through a New Hampshire winter, and the dome lifter option helps vent heat on summer days. Our guide to living in a yurt in winter covers insulation, stove sizing and snow load in more detail.

Layout Ideas

A 20' floor fits a queen bed, a seating area around the stove and a compact kitchenette along the wall. Many rental owners place the bed opposite the door so guests see the view through the windows as they walk in. For more ideas, read yurt interior design ideas.

What is a yurt?

A yurt is a round, tension-built shelter with a lattice wall, roof rafters and a central ring, adapted from the traditional dwellings of Central Asia. Folks use our yurts for a variety of reasons including year-round living, artist lofts, hunting camps, vacation suites, ski area shelters and much more. The best way to understand a White Mountain Yurt is to see one in person – and choose to live outside the box!

Testimonials

I can't say enough good things about my experience with WMY's. The yurt itself is strong, beautiful, light and airy. The people at WMY's are professional, enthusiastic, responsive and just plain fun. I've been wanting a yurt for the last 16 years, and the reality has been even better than the dream!
