About White Mountain Yurts

PUT ON YOUR SHADES 'CAUSE THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT!

We've met a lot of good people in our travels, and we've learned that a yurt can be so much more than a structure. A yurt can hold dreams. For some, yurt living represents freedom to vacation in a second home - freedom and independence - freedom from that big mortgage, freedom from the grid, freedom to spend more time with the family doing the more important things in life. For others it means a giant step toward a sustainable future - a green choice for our blue planet, shrinking your carbon footprint and a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature in its purest and most simple form. We feel honored to be part of those dreams.

AT WHITE MOUNTAIN YURTS WE BELIEVE IN DREAMS.

You know the feeling when you love what you do and you’re really good at it? My family would like to welcome you to our world. We are located in a little nook of a town called East Wakefield, New Hampshire - just about a "stone's throw" from the rugged backdrop of New Hampshire's White Mountains. We think it’s a great place to build Yurts and we’ve been satisfying our customers with, well, more than just Yurts. We believe that our product provides a lifestyle unmatched. Just imagine living on the planet for the very first time as you become closer to nature and the beauty of all that surrounds you. Better walks, clearer skies, fresher air, better sleep, peaceful days and nights and yes... better sunsets. Just ask what our customers think?

WE BUILD OUR YURTS WITH HARD WORK AND THE LOVE OF THE CRAFT.

We're dedicated to providing quality, hand-built yurts that will stand the test of time. That's why each of our yurts is individually crafted with our customer's needs in mind, and we don't stop there. We believe in providing continued support - from the initial yurt raising - well into the future. You can be sure that at White Mountain Yurts you'll always find a real person who can answer any question you may have. Take comfort my friend.

LIFE OUTSIDE THE BOX! LET YOUR JOURNEY START HERE.

Go ahead and start that homestead. Break free from the grid. Write your novel. Retire in the mountains. Paint a masterpiece. Own your own little circle of peace and quiet. We'll be there when you're ready.

A Family Yurt Business in East Wakefield, New Hampshire

White Mountain Yurts is a family-owned and operated business. Every yurt is hand-built in our New Hampshire shop from hand-selected Douglas Fir and Eastern White Pine, then finished with oil to stand up to four New England seasons. Over the years our yurts have gone up as homes, guest houses, studios, hunting camps and rental units across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts – you can read about some of them on our testimonials page and see places you can stay in a White Mountain Yurt.

We have always enjoyed sharing the process. In June 2009 we hosted a public yurt raising with The Green Alpaca in Strafford, New Hampshire, where neighbors and families helped put up a 20-foot yurt in a single day. That spirit is still what we are about: real people, a well-made product and help from the first sketch of your platform to the day your yurt goes up.

How We Work With You

What is a yurt?

A yurt is a round, tension-built shelter with a lattice wall, roof rafters and a central ring, adapted from the traditional dwellings of Central Asia. Folks use our yurts for a variety of reasons including year-round living, artist lofts, hunting camps, vacation suites, ski area shelters and much more. The best way to understand a White Mountain Yurt is to see one in person – and choose to live outside the box!

Testimonials

I can't say enough good things about my experience with WMY's. The yurt itself is strong, beautiful, light and airy. The people at WMY's are professional, enthusiastic, responsive and just plain fun. I've been wanting a yurt for the last 16 years, and the reality has been even better than the dream!
